Fruit.

As an  artist, when I  see  something that  peeks my interest, my  eyes  capture that image and my  mind begins  daydreaming.....

How  does it   taste? How  does it  feel? Where  and what  could be   done with this? All questions the  formulate in my  mind and  seek the answers. The  creative process has  now  begun.

Today, I   went to the  local farmers  market. Walking thru the   rows of  fresh  fruit, capturing  various images..... the  daydream begins.

Passion fruit, strawberries, bananas, pineapples and  the list goes on and on.

Each  fruit  so  succulent. Delectable.

Fruits.... so  delicious   yet  so  incredibly romantic and  sexy.

Strawberries and champagne. Chocolate covered strawberries. Passion fruit. Pineapple. Mmmmmmmm.

My  mind fills  with  delicious images.... from   fresh  summer pies to pure seduction.

When you   think of  these  fruits...... what  images come to  your mind?

Everyone's interpretation  is  different.

Just  like when   viewing a  piece of  art.  Each piece stirs   different  emotions. It  could be of innocence to  sizzling  erotic  temptations and more.  All beautifully seductive.

~Until the next time.....

Swirls of color.

Colors are  whirling
across my mind.
Dancing...
in no particular precision.
Floating...
like waves upon the sand.
Entwining....
in a love affair.

What's the emotions?
What do they whisper?
A peculiar notion?

Love.
Regret.
Happiness.
Fear.

Look deep...
into  your heart and  soul.

Feel it.
Taste it.
Embrace it.

Swirls of  color surround me everyday.

Whether it be the  colors on my  palette entwining  as my brush  caresses the  paint ..... or when I am  frosting a cake and the  delicate swirls of the icing weave their   spell.  Each color and pattern speak   loud and  clear.  It's up to you the viewer to feel, taste and  embrace the artworks message.

Until next time....

Black Forest.....

Black  Forest.....

A Black Forest  Cherry Torte.

A surreal and  edgy Twisted Sugar Painting.

Both   delectable in their own  right.

Some will enjoy the luscious  mixture of  chocolate, cream and cherries, while others will get lost in  a sensual  and twisted work of  art.

I  myself...  love  both. While making  a  Black  Forest  Cherry Torte  a couple of  days ago..... my  mind  journeyed into another  "Black Forest" and  the creation process of my  latest   painting began.

Here  are  some   delicious   lil treats  for you.....  some  work in progress pics of my "Black Forest" original  acrylic painting ..... along  with  my  Black Forest  Cherry  Torte  Recipe, that has been  passed  down thru my  family. Enjoy........

 Black Forest Cherry Torte Recipe....

Ingredients:

  • 1 dark chocolate cake mix (or your own from scratch)
  • 1/4 c. kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 16 oz. heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
  • Maraschino cherries, drained, optional, for garnish
  • milk chocolate curls or shavings, for garnish

Preparation:

Drain cherry pie filling in a colander to remove most of the thickened juices. Make cake, following package directions. Bake cake, as directed, in two 9-inch layer cake pans.
When cool, sprinkle kirsch over both cake layers.
Chill electric beaters and large mixing bowl; beat cream until it thickens slightly, gradually add confectioners' sugar and beat until thick enough to hold its shape.
Using a vegetable peeler, shave chocolate; refrigerate until ready to serve.
Assemble cake; place one layer on serving plate and spread its top with 1/2-inch thick layer of whipped cream and strew the cherries over the cream leaving about 1/2 inch margin around border of cake with no cherries.
Set other layer on top of cherries and spread top and sides of cake with remaining cream, shape whipped cream into decorative swirls on top.
With fingers, gently press chocolate curls into cream on sides of cake.
Garnish top with drained maraschino cherries, if desired, or with a few remaining chocolate curls.

 Until next time....

Cupcakes and Sweet Arsenic.

Cupcakes.

What is   so  irresistibly  good about these lil cakes?

One  doesn't have to  worry  about   slicing these individual cakes.
It can be frosted with enticing icing and decorations.
Perfect for birthdays to any  occasion of  celebration.
Their tasty flavors can compliment any season.
Delighting  anyone.

They are  just a  sensational  treat for  all ages.

Last  night, while painting on my   latest work of  art  titled Sweet Arsenic Cupcake, part of my new Twisted Sugar Art  Collection, I was  listening to  Cupcake  Wars on the food  channel.  Needless to say  by the  time the show  was   done I   was craving   these mouth  watering lil gems.  The  flavors  were   out of this  world..... Ginger cupcakes with Peach  Filling and Blueberry Frosting.  Lemon Kiwi. Mango with  Habenero filling, just to name a  few.   These combinations were totally wicked.  Adding  habeneros to  a cupcake... well I  never  would have thought of that. I guess the  sweet  and hot  factor  really comes into play here. (wink)

Some  day   I might  just have to  get the nerve up, put my  apron on  and  try that   combo in one of my  own  cupcakes.
Even though I  love to bake cupcakes and specialty   cakes in  my  spare  time.... I  find   experimenting more with  exotic an  sinful  flavors  currently my  cup of  tea. Take for example  my  latest   creation... Sweet Arsenic. She is wickedly   sweet  and  sinfully twisted.  I can't  wait to  finish   her. She is  coming along  so nicely..... I hope to have this  tasty  treat.. one that    everyone has been craving to  see  finished,   done in the  next   day  or  two.

So  I  guess  it's  time to get back  into  my  art kitchen/studio and  get to baking;)

Enjoy  your  day...
Until next time...
~Heather

The Cutest Thing

Yesterday, I had the  cutest thing happen when  I  was  at a  local grocery store.   I  had lil  fingers  tapping my  arm  and  pulling  at the  sleeve  to my shirt. I  looked  down and there stood a  lil boy, who was   just  cute as  a button, smiling  at me while  pointing and   exclaiming   Angry Birds Space, Angry  Birds Space!   A  warm  smile  filled my  heart  and   crossed my  face  as I   agreed with the boy, "Yes", I  said, "Angry Birds Space".   It's  amazing  how  many   times I have had children point   at my  t-shirt and    exclaim "Angry Birds!"  It's  fun to  see the look  of happiness   fill a child's  heart  when they  see images of these feathered lil  friends.

It's little  moments like this,  that can  just   brighten  one's   day.

Be  thankful for  the simple  lil things that surround  you  each and  every  day  and  do not let them  pass you  by.
